Make a Wish

I've noticed that many of my acquaintances are feeling down nowadays. I wish they would have happier days ahead of them for this upcoming week. I even wish that my joyous days for the past days would rub off on them. Everyone deserves to be happy.

I wish that more people visit my blog and make comments.

I wish that I would do better in my three subjects (1 probably failing & 2 average grades).

I wish I could win a contest this year, no matter what the prize is.

I wish to help more people out.

It's fun being a kid

My billiard streak against Migs continued as I won 4-0 yesterday. In reality, I actually won only two racks. However, Migs dropped two more games due to the fact that when he made the final 9-ball, he also dropped his cue ball down a pocket. This gives the W to his opponent.

My sister had a kiddie birthday party in KFC yesterday. Although I didn't play any kiddie party games (The ACLC people handled those), I was dead tired after the party. Maybe it's because of the matrix-simulated fight with balloons I joined just before the end of the party.

Chuckie, the giant chicken KFC mascot, scored another victim by scaring the wits out of Sel's friend, Ember. It was interesting to note that when this giant mascot appeared, everyone in the party took a step backwards. Are mascots really suitable for kids?

56-53, ADMU squeaks by UP, reclaims first place and is assured of a final four spot. Whew!

A kid has this sense of wonder that burns strong within them. This enables them to notice new things adults usually fail to see.

Why do some people want to forget that they were kids before? Maybe that's why they have those "second childhoods" during their midlife.

Last time on becoming...

I haven't updated for a while due to work and tiredness.

Two days ago:
  • 'Twas a day of upsets in UAAP Men's Basketball. First/Second seeded ADMU Eagles were chowed down by the seventh seeded NU Bulldogs. Third seeded DLSU Archers were stomped down by the last seeded UP Maroons.
  • 'Twas a Mr. Suave and Rainie-inspired day in the billiard hall. Still on a winning streak, I defeated Migs once again in a rout, 8-1. There were many amazing shots throughout the match. One of these "Mr. Suave" shots included an attempt to bank the 9-ball from the top rail to the bottom left corner pocket. I hit it wide, and it fortunately caromed off the middle left pocket and headed straight to the middle right one. Another memorable shot was the 6-9 "combination". Both balls were close to one another, so I used the 6-ball to make the cue ball hit the 9-ball and shoot the 9 in the top left corner pocket.
  • 'Twas the time to pay the tickets for the upcoming F2 concert. 16 days.

    Yesterday:
  • I submitted two Tagalog poems for my Children's Literature class. I hope the class likes them. If they're good enough, then they are going to a contest or something.
  • I met up with the President and VP of Pub&Comm of COSA. They told me to turn the COSA site to something more professional.
  • 15 days.

    Rain(ie)drops

These are the times when I wish I were two or have the power of astral projection. I've been bouncing here and there, meeting to another meeting, paper to another paper for the past weeks. It is tiring and stressful, but at least I'm not complaining that my life has been reduced to a stagnant pond.

And there's always Rainie to brighten up my day. Before you start making up rumors on who Rainie is, she's that girl in the picture on your right. For those who are clueless on her identity, she's Xiao You (real name: Rainie Yang Cheng Lin) from the Taiwanese series, Meteor Garden. Isn't she the cutest raindrop you've ever seen?

And no, I didn't play billiards with her. :) I wish she would come along with Ken, Vanness, Barbie and Vivian to the Philippines. I tell you, she has a beautiful voice. I've heard her sing solo already.

    September 13 --- 16 days to go!

    Physics & Pigs

It was amusing playing in the new billiards place in Katipunan. Located above Intermatrix, the place looked more like a dorm than a billiard hall. The room is too small. They tried to fit two billiard tables (one micro-sized, one regular sized with bottom sides removed), a vendo machine (off-line), a computer and some other stuff. The place was basically a billiard hall/computer editing?/dry cleaners in one.

Anyway, Tia, Migs and I played 9-ball in their regular sized pool table. The balls had a tendency to curve when they slowed down, sometimes leading to the pocket (which is good). Migs challenged me to a speed game, and I like pocketed all 9-balls in 102 seconds (which is pretty amazing considering that I'm not that good in billiards). I even used their "junior" stick, or what is known now as the jump stick because the regular-sized ones were too big that they hit the walls and the roof whenever you tried to line up the shot. Remember what I said about the curve tendency? I just hit hard on every shot. Lo and behold, at least one of them will go in. Explain that physicists!

Just a day, just an ordinary day

    ...just trying to get by...
I'm going home early today. I still have that postponed long test to attend to. Just trying to get by this long weekend drag though.

...just a boy, just an ordinary boy...
Reichen and Chip, whom I've rooted for since day one won the Amazing Race 4. Luckily, their fiercest competitors David & Jeff blew it when they took a flight to Sydney without researching that there were no available flights from Sydney to Hawaii on that day. They lagged almost a day behind.

..don't you see your dreams right in the palm of your hand...
It was fun watching the new segment in MTV called MTV Duets. This show enabled someone to perform alongside the artist of your choice. You should've seen Vanessa Carlton being a professional bitch that almost drove the lucky lady to tears. However, it did inspire the lucky lady to overcome her nervousness and perform a great "A Thousand Miles" song with Vanessa complete with vocals and piano.

...touch the stars for time will not flee
Great news for all F4 fans. It is partially confirmed that Barbie Xu, Vanness Wu and Ken Zhu will visit the Philippines and perform this September. Be prepared to spend a lot as the cheapest seats will be priced at 500 pesos, while the best ones, 10,500 pesos. These three can speak english so there will be no communication problems whatsoever. I hope I can get in for this is a rare opportunity. Sorry to the Vic and Jerry fans...

...just a dream, just an ordinary dream...
I hope I get to win at least one writing contest this year. It's not for the money (although it would be nice), but to get my stories a sturdy place in the shaky world of literature.

    A Day in Hogwarts

Yesterday, Milo and his sisters went to his cousin's seventh birthday. When we got there, there were two wizards running the show, namely Hermione Granger and Crispy Potter, a long lost relative of the famous boy, Harry Potter. They were inducting some new children, including the birthday boy, into the school of Hogwarts.

Magic was all over the place. Quaffles became the size of medicine balls in gyms and were used to bounce around chairs in a race. Hedwig left letters under chairs that concealed secret prizes to those who were lucky enough to find them. There were three invisible cloaks, each with a different color, to hide from Professor Snape's view. There was even a caricaturist who used several types of wands to capture an image of the wizard on paper. Harry Potter didn't show up though, but he left a magic lamp which when opened sprinkled Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans and chocolate frogs all over the room.

When merienda time came, ice cream, iced tea, chicken, lasagna and more appeared on their tables to the young wizards' delight. The adults needed to go to another table though. :)

When the induction neared its end, every wizard in the room shouted the magic words, "Happy Birthday Jevon!", as a sign of gratitude to the birthday boy who made it possible for everyone to enjoy a trip to Hogwarts.

I'm off to see the wizard

Just a few short notes today (I'm in a rush):
  • ADMU beat AdU by 14, 69-55. Still hot!
  • I woke up early (2:30 am) to review for my two long tests today. One of them got postponed though because the teacher was sick. I'm not sure if I should be happy or annoyed by that incident.
  • In a few minutes, my sisters and I are off to visit my mother in the Makati Med. According to my dad's text messages, she has myoma. Guys, I'm asking for your prayers for her speedy recovery.

That's it. Will probably update again later when I get back. Au revoir!

Sometimes vocabulary runs through my head

So we didn't play any more table tennis matches after. Guess everyone was tired.

Then in came Scrabble. I played against 3 other Biology teachers. I won the first game with an 180 score, came in second in the second game, tied for 1st in the third, and dropped down to third in the fourth game when two of the players scored a 51 and an 83 point rack respectively.

At least, I know I still have the word power in me.

I should've clarified the rules. I should've won that third game due to the rule of the person who finishes all his tiles first gets all the points of the letters remaining with the other players.

Just went to class and home today. I have two consecutive long tests tomorrow. Wish me luck!

I just played three table tennis matches (1 doubles, 2 singles) with some Biology teachers in the Ateneo. Just like when I was placed in the upper bracket in PE table tennis, I lost all three. De ja vu.

Or maybe because I haven't played in a long while. But it was fun.

I'll play again later, if they still want to.

    A moment like this

    Previous Moments
I haven't been able to update my blog for the past days because I haven't been online. Here's a run-down of what I've been doing during those days.
  • I blasted Migs 6-2 in billiards. The streak lives!
  • I traded in our Canon printer for a cool Lexmark printer/scanner in Cyberzone.
  • I went to Ala' Alcala, a commemorative event for the late cartoonist, Lary Alcala. It was fun looking for his face in his artworks as well as in the commemorative artworks of INK.
  • I've been playing the PS2 Game, Magic Pengel, a Monster Rancher type of game where you can DRAW your own monsters. I currently have a flying, one eyed, long haired monster, Megaman (It's cool when he shoots magic -- it looks like the X-Buster), a medusa head, a fire fueled by logs, Monol from Monster Rancher and a flying Ateneo Blue Eagle.
  • I still constantly play Poo Rain in my 3510i. I've raised my highest score to 800.
  • I've been coding the Ateneocosa.com website. Hopefully, it will be online soon.
  • I've been writing drafts for stories I wish to submit to various writing contests this year. I'm also looking for that elusive prize winning Dalit.

    Earl Moment
It is the sixth rack. I lead 3 games to 2. I break, but nothing went in. After a few shots, I attempted a 1-9 combination to steal the game. I hit it soft, causing the 9-ball to stop on the corner of the upper right hand pocket giving Migs a huge possibility to make the same 1-9 combination. Luckily, he misses, but he didn't leave me a chance to attempt that combination again. I do the next best thing and let the 1-ball go to the other side of the table. >> Fast Forward >> 7, 8 and 9 balls are left. I pocket the 7-ball easy, but didn't have a shot at the 8. I take a shot, but I unluckly place it in a position aligned with the 9-ball. Migs tries to make the combo, but fails. He leaves the cue ball and the 8-ball almost kissing together in an angle with the 9. I cannot hit the 9 straight on because it will only bounce off the corner. I hope for the best and try to bounce the 8-ball off the side rail and kiss the 9-ball. Luckily, it happened the way it was planned.

With cue stick in hand, I lie down on the floor with both fists on the air shouting "Yeah!" Oh yeah, during that said rack, the temperamental feeling got the best of me. Words can't explain all the raw emotion flowing through me that rack. Maybe, the best picture you can think of is Earl Strickland in a bad game + Strickland winning the World Pool Championships 2002. And, I won 5-4.

    Axe Moment
I passed by Colayco after the billiards game today. I hoped to get a copy of AdDimensions. Unfortunately, all copies were gone. Wow. Well anyways, as I went out of the COSA room, I saw Melodie enter the Aegis/Regcom Room. I went past the room and looked back. At the exact moment, she went out of the room carrying a medium-sized box made out of illustration board with some bond papers inside. One of the papers flew out of the box. Without hesitation, I rushed back and picked the paper up as she struggled to balance the box while getting down to retrieve the said item. While I handed the paper back, I asked her how she is and offered to help her carry her things out. She replied, "harrassed", and declined my offer saying that she can handle it. It was nice seeing her again.

    Life's a song

---and then the hero comes along---
Many people say that Antonio Trillanes IV is a smart man. But after the failed mutiny attempt, many seem to doubt his intelligence. With evidence popping out from nowhere, the future seems bleak for this top dog.

And then we insert a probable but highly doubtful... WHAT IF ANGLE.

The current evidence consists of: diskettes containing the coup plan found in Oakwood, a photograph of Senator Gringo Honasan in the secret meeting with the conspirators, a bunch of IDs and military gear found in a house owned by Estrada and some other few tidbits. The military intelligence are now delving into an issue where the mutineers used Senator Tessie Oreta's house as a meeting place.

Looking at the evidence, it seems dumb for any of the co-mutineers to take a picture of their secret meeting. It also seems stupid to store top secret official files in diskettes and leaving gear inside an easily suspected official's house. Trillanes seems to be lacking that intelligence everyone was raving about. BUT....

What if one day, when Trillanes is nearing the point of no return, he admits everything including the meetings with the Estrada clan, Honasan, Oreta and probably a few more from the opposition? Later, when he, his co-mutineers and those opposition senators are about to be sentenced, Trillanes admits planting the evidence the government has to enable the military to track down this heinous deed that they were doing. This move wipes out a number of the opposition, and probably he gets off with a presidential pardon considering he helped out in solving the question of who were the masterminds behind this attempted coup. He now becomes a "hero" since he was able to give the government evidence that the government has been looking for a long time against these people. It would even help ending the long-postponed Estrada trial. It's Trillanes "Get Out of Jail" card, and thus proving that he is indeed a smart guy.

    ----show me your love----
Ever since Jen pretended? to get angry at me, I've been thinking a lot lately about my so called life. Even though I don't show it, I've been feeling a lot alone lately as if my circle of friends are losing circumference. Come to think of it, I can only count a handful of people whom I consider to be real friends, the ones I can go to in times of need, even give up my life for them. The rest are fading away into the circle known as acquaintances. I know their name, but I feel that that's about all I know. And like I said before, a name cannot be written or pronounced, only lived. I can't feel their name living in me. And I can't feel my name living in them. Am I doing something wrong that I feel like being sucked into the Little Prince world where nothing exists except me and the planet I'm standing on? Am I becoming faceless like my username in Atenista.net where I'm known only as a moderator? Sometimes, I feel that the only thing making me happy now is work. But, I don't want to become like Maricel Soriano in Mano Po whose life is centered on work alone.

    ---it's not a perfect world---
The saying, "you can't please everybody" sometimes bugs me. On a positive note, it shows that we are unique individuals. On the other hand, it also implies that someone out there really is annoyed by your existence. I'm a person who doesn't like enemies, and always sees the good of a person first. It hurts a lot to see some of whom I see as friends and treat as brothers turn their backs on you just because they believed in some misleading concepts.

    ---more to life---
I think I got it all, yet I feel so deprived. I feel that I've been chasing a temporary high to another one lately just to keep myself happy. I know that there is more to life than that. I'm searching for something that's missing. If anyone can help me find that other part of life, please feel free to share comments below. I'll accept all notes & suggestions, private or public, all major credit cards, check or COD. :)

Note to self: Jerome is trouble. I got semi-busted in Philo class because of him. My so-called friends must be laughing at me by now.

    Repetition, Flight & Excrement

I had a dream last night. I was in Ateneo but I'm not sure where exactly (But I got a gut feel it was in CTC along the path that connects CTC and SOM.) While I was walking, it so happened that a girl passed beside me. I found her a bit attractive so I looked back to see her. Apparently, she looked back at me too. I felt a bit shy so I looked back to where I was going. This part repeated two more times. After the two deja vus, for some reason, we became groupmates in a project in a subject. I got to know her, she got to know me. We became close as time passed by. We met and enjoyed each other's company everyday. I don't understand this dream at all. I don't even know the girl in the dream. From what I remember, she had fair skin, medium length hair which was curled up in the end, a bit chubbier (she's still slender since I'm a bit thin) than I am, and shorter than me. Other than those details, I have no clue as to who she is and what this dream is trying to tell me.

I blasted Migs in billiards earlier winning 6-2 (plus 1 if you count the exhibition game.) Although I didn't play a good game, Migs didn't fare well too. While we were playing, balls from the other pool tables kept flying all around. I don't know if the other players in the billiard hall are playing pool or throwing balls at each other. :)

Those who have 3510i's or 3530's, try the game Poo Rain. It has a simple concept of dodging falling poop, but it's really addicting. It's a game where your main goal is to get the high score, much like what fueled the Pac-man and Tetris crazes back then. My highest score so far is 686 points, but I know I can top that in the future. Come to think of it, most of the MJoynet's games for the cellphone are addicting. I got addicted back then to Jumping Girl and Fishing Mania.

Ok, got to go now. I've got stuff due tomorrow.

    Some song notes:
--> Theo 131 can and will ruin Heart Evangelista's song, "One" when you get to the topic of the difference between falling in love and true love.
--> Stacie Orrico's new single, "More to Life", is a good reflection song.

    Spread the love!

It was too cloudy to see the meteor rain -- oh well...

I redid some coding for the ateneocosa.com website earlier. It kind of looks good, but I'm not yet satisfied with it. I'm not sure why. I'm glad the AVP's & VP's of COSA now are very supportive, and this inspires me to do my best and contribute more for the COSA cause. You don't get respect by instilling fear into your workers.

After the website coding, I played Kiss' Because I'm a Girl video to some people there in SEC C (I think it was a Comm bench). I tell you, the look on their faces was priceless especially when they saw the hospital scene. (You should've seen Zig Marasigan's reaction when he saw that same scene) They were so moved by the video that they requested me to play it again & again & again. Plus, they kept on inviting friends and benchmates to spend eight minutes of their life watching and being touched by this work of art. I must've played it around five times!

"Because I'm a Girl" by KISS is truly my favorite video of all time, and probably it will be yours too when you get to watch it.

    I Can't Take It

I really don't like it when my crammed work turns out to be better than the work I've slaved for several days or weeks. I don't understand how it could happen since I have more time to prepare, make and review my work to make it better.

I got the results of my second philosophy long test (that I wrote in 2 days) earlier, and it's a half point lower than my first one (that I wrote on the deadline date itself).

...in Sta. Lucia playing billiards against long-time-no-see friend, RB. The infamous Strickland Mosconi 8-ball plagued me and gave him 2 wins. However, I managed to get 3 W's. Wheww!

Yesterday, I got 2 softdrink cans from the vendo machine for the price of one. The weird thing was they were two different types of soda. The luck didn't pass to my history long test though.

I got to know Jen's friend, Joe, earlier and he introduced me to Dopewars. Well, I got the game for my cellphone and played a game. Well, I got a little addicted to the game. It's all about drug dealing, pistol shooting, police evading, whooo!! I ended up with $400,000+ in 31 days. Not bad for a first-time player. I played the second time -- $3,716396. Now, I could buy an imaginary pool table. However, I get a little weirded out when I buy acid though.

After reading Kwene's comment about raspberry ice cream, I got "influenced" to buy one earlier. Yup, it was delish.

I have my Philosophy presentation tomorrow. Hope my explanation for "katamaran" will not mislead my classmates and my teacher.

Two things to think about if you're a college Atenean:
    1. Ateneo has been discussing about a new traffic scheme which will force cars to unload only in designated dropzones inside the campus. Two of the specified dropzones were near Gate 2 & 3.

    2. They have also discussed about changing all of the classes into an hour and thirty minutes each. This means no more MWF & TTH distinctions, and also the possibility of having a 4-day schoolday. However, some students might be forced to have an S class, or go home late during schooldays.

What do you think? Take a sip of Moon Coffee and tell me your thoughts.

Ok, got to log off now. Got to encode into a memory a thousand kilobytes of Children's poetry and short stories.

P.S. Anyone want to join my "treat-to-a-fruits-in-ice-cream" club? I've already treated Queene to a cone, and Denise and Tia to a waffle cone. Anyone can join as long as they are worthy enough to be treated! :)

One down, three more commands to perform for my masters (hopefully).

My systems been running for a while now. I had only two hours of shutdown time yesterday. I'm running on back-up power right now. However, it faltered a bit earlier and tried to recharge during History class, but my AI prevented it from prolonging.

A virus has already invaded my system. My anti-virus software has detected and identified the virus as Lindows.Cold.C@mm. Luckily, my anti-virus software is on and trying to flush the virus out as you read this.

I went home early and recharged my system for an additional two hours. I'll try to upgrade my memory chips to increase my functional capacity later.

Sony has plans to add to my software library. Silent Hill 3 is coming out this August 6, Fatal Frame 2 & Monster Rancher 4 this August 20, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Soul Calibur 2 this August 27. However, the software I really want is WWE Smackdown!: Here Comes the Pain which comes out on October 29. Well, I just have to remain on standby for these games. AND, add memory cards.

For the meanwhile, I've been running PBA Live 2003, Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth and Extreme Warfare Revenge on occasion.

    See?

    Ok... logging off now.

    Am I making up things?

Tell me if you can make enough sense out of:

    Potensyal <===> Meron
    Pag-uulit <===> Konsepto

'Coz if there is, then I've found a very powerful link.
