Groove to the Music

"Let the music heal your soul..."

These were the last words the Bravo All Stars left before they faded to black in my video screen. Everything was in ruin -- the sky choked with a dark gray smoke, buildings stained, cracked and deserted, wind toyed around with objects someone used to own, several people forgotten by whom they considered friends.

Suddenly, booming music was heard in the nearby building. I whipped out my cellphone and texted a friend to join me and investigate. Twenty minutes passed, no answer. I wandered around the grounds trying to find someone who will go with me there. Like the wise ones always said, there is strength in numbers.

Luckily, a member of A Cool League Corporation passed by and adopted me in their group. They made me an honorary member for that day. Together, we hopped in their huge Haplos car and drove to the said site.

When we got there, a huge crowd was waiting outside the building.
It was a bomb shelter since the sky had been raining liquid, armor-piercing missiles that day. Most of the members of A Cool League Corporation were there dressed in yellow. Apparently, some of them were presenting that night to all the people who were there.

Everyone rushed inside as the gates opened. The guards didn't even have time to check if the people had their passes to get in. I still had mine intact when I got inside.

Ecstatic was the mood of all the people inside.

Oh, the little joys in life.

  • Knowing that my favorite Taiwanese celebrity, Rainie Yang, celebrates her birthday on June 4, just 3 days after my birthday. Gemini rules!
  • "#1 Britney-Fan" Joel dancing/singing Madonna's "Like A Virgin" in front of our Theology class.
  • Not regarding anyone as my enemy/foe.
  • Just seeing everyone healthy and happy
  • Winning a close game of billiards, a 7-5 come-from-behind victory. Never led the game until the 11th rack.
  • Reading other people's blogs to "keep track" of their lives.
  • Always being able to share a smile to someone else (even if it means letting them bash innocent me).
  • Connecting with God all the time.
  • Writing.
  • Seeing that somehow, everything is in order around me and other people as well.
  • Playing around with the saying, "There are many fish in the sea." (If there are many fish in the sea, why can't I catch one?, The fish don't go to you, you go to the fish, Little Nemo: There are 3 trillion fish in the sea, but they are only looking for one., There's always the one that got away.)
  • Disproving Descartes' saying, "I think, therefore, I am" and any other "genius" quotes.
  • Being childlike a.k.a., not forgetting your inner child.
  • Receiving an e-mail from the Mosconi Cup offering "trip packages." (see below)
  • Just being alive.

    Eight injured in F4 concert

While I was reading the newspaper, this headline quickly caught my attention since I was part of the event.

It was a disaster waiting to happen mainly because they oversold the tickets. They even broadcasted across different media that there were tickets available, and that everyone can go in. They were even letting people buy tickets at the gate even though the place was already jampacked with rampaging people.

Apparently, when the show was about to start around 8:30 p.m., the guards tried to close the gate. However, when the gate, guards and rampaging fans collided, the pressure of these two forces caused the gate to give in, and fall down on , unfortunately, on these eight. What's more, the fans, seeing that the gate fell, rushed inside. This caused the people pinned underneath the gate to be squashed.

Probably, this is what I saw when I was on the highest step of the bleachers. There was a wave of people rushing in and knocking over the barricade separating the P3000 seats from the P500 general admission.

Like Ken Zhu & Gary V. said, "Please stop pushing."

I would just like to take this little moment and say a little prayer to these people who got injured during the event especially to that little girl who was screaming in pain two people behind me.

    Some F4 News:
  • Inq7.net says that F4 is coming here for a concert on March 2004! Details are here -->
  • Jerry Yan is the new Bench model. This is going to boost Bench sales for sure, much like what Mandy did for Penshoppe. (I'm still sticking to Penshoppe)

It was nice seeing them in person. :)

Yes, jologs ako... and so are 75,000 people who bought their album and made their three singles top the UK Charts. Same goes for the 10,000++ voters who texted and made them best out M2M and T.A.T.U. as the best girl duo here in MYXMatch. Those twins have surely made an impact in the pop biz.

They got pushed out of the limelight due to "THE EVENT" featuring Taiwanese stars F2, Barbie & Dee. However, this didn't mean that no one went to their concert yesterday.

You don't know who I'm talking about?

All I can say is they are a bit cheeky.

And the winds have passed by...

I just got home from the amazing, one-of-a-kind "The Event." I'm so glad that I made it there in one piece after what happened.

We spent three hours, twenty-two minutes, forty-five seconds lining up and waiting for the show to start. Everything went fine. There was a line that stretched around four corners of the area. However, when the police removed their "strict" rules, everyone started rushing forward not minding the people around them. Luckily, my sis, Migs and I kept close together and never lost sight of each other. I felt pity on the small kid who got squashed in between those big adults that kept on pushing from behind.

They oversold the tickets. That's the main reason of the ruckus.

We were drenched in rain, our bodies aching from the shoving and throwing our weight around just to keep us intact.

However, we didn't care. The concert was so good.

Nina, Kyla and Bituin opened the act with their own rendition of Beyonce's "Crazy in Love." I was shouting to let Vanness rap. However, they omitted that part of the song. Then came South Border who sang a couple of rap songs like Eminem's Lose Yourself. Back to Nina and Kyla where they sang their hit singles. The Company did their rendition of "Independent Women" and "Survivor", both by Destiny's Child. Gary V performed next. He performed around 5 numbers (including Hataw Na & I Will Be Here) and managed to keep the crowd down -- which was great of him because the pushing mellowed down after he did that.

As soon as the ASOS stepped out of the backstage, the crowd went wild. AND THE RAINS STOPPED. They performed three songs, 2 from their album (including their mellow song Ai Bu Chi Jiu) and Qing Fei Da Yi (Barbie sung almost everything). Barbie and Dee were sooooo cute, we felt like they were in their pre-teens by the way they acted on stage. It was like watching a kiddie Chinese variety show.

"Is Barbie beautiful?" --- Dee asked the crowd. :)

Next came Vanness, who performed three songs including Looking For Juliet (he threw his white cap to the audience -- Whoever got that was sure lucky), Body Will Sing (I think he threw a wristband here) and You as a Friend. He was really cool, and even said "Mahal Kita!" in his accent. He really is a great dancer. I love my binoculars for making him seem close to where I'm standing. (Yes, we stood the entire show)

Ken came next and performed three numbers (Here We Are [you should've heard the people scream their lungs out when they saw Ken bringing out his guitar], an 80's number and "Inside my Guitar".) I was waiting for him to sing "Show Me Your Love", but he didn't. Oh well. He still looks the same like we see on television. And he also attempted to say that same Filipino phrase Vanness said earlier. Fun!

Ken then called out Vanness again and performed a duet. I forgot the title of the song, but it was in the Fantasy Forever album. They should've sang "Season of Fireworks" as fireworks kept exploding onstage and in the sky.

They never did an encore.... safety first!

Gary V and the rest of the Filipino artists capped the entire event with the song "Celebration".

Everyone was singing to the F4 songs, even Barbie's rendition of "Qing Fei Da Yi". I'm sure we made a very positive impression on our Taiwanese guests. Vanness even commented that for a non-Chinese speaking community, he was surprised that the crowd knew the lyrics of their songs.

I LOVED THE EVENT. Never mind the pain and the rain, or anyone who threw me down the 8th level of hell, this event was really swell. A night to remember.

    Tia, wish you were there.

And lost our way (hopefully not)

My feelings are rising and falling like a rollercoaster today. Got to get prepared for later. See you there!

    Doki-Doki

    That's Japanese for heartbeat.

AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! "THE EVENT" is one day away!

And many people feel the same way too. Grabe! You should've seen the crowds in NAIA and the Shangri-la hotel earlier. The crowds for these four Taiwanese stars beat the crowds when Michael Jackson came here in the Philippines. Shows how big the Meteor Garden/F4 fever is in the Philippines.

There are rumors too that the other 2 F4 members, namely Jerry and Vic, will also visit the Philippines sometime this year. If this is true, then the Filipinos would surely be ecstatic once more. However, unless they bring Rainie with them, I won't probably go. (maybe)

I still have a Theo class tomorrow, 1-4 pm. Actually, the class is 1-8 pm. Don't worry, I've already asked permission from my teacher to attend only the first part. However, this will surely make it hard to get a good seat in the elevated bleachers during "The Event". Kainis! I'm packing my helmet (not really) tomorrow just in case a riot ensues. Hopefully, the people there would realize that "Hey, we're in the bleachers. We can't reach the stage from here. We will just fall down!"

Oh yeah, I won another billiards game against Migs yesterday. He got an early lead 2-zip. However, he threw away the next 3 racks. The final score, correct me if I'm wrong, 6-3. Migs got Ralf-ed again.

I really don't like History anymore. I had this long test earlier, and when I finished it, well, let's say that I'm proud of that long test. I can't even find one number that I know I am sure of.

And I won a basketball ticket for the ATENEO-LA SALLE Game tomorrow. However, since I have a class and I'm going to "The Event" tomorrow, I had to sell it. It's a General Admission Ticket anyways. No big loss. At least I made someone else happy.

It was fun to do them though. Editing will be great... the application of my skills or lack thereof. It brings back memories in high school when I played Ben Zayb (forgot the spelling) for our El Filibusterismo film production.

I love being the tech guy --- all that gadgets and high tech weaponry :).

I'm so inspired to write nowadays. I don't know why, but I would like to thank to all my detractors for "giving" me new ideas. And you think I'm negatively affected.

September 15 to October 15 - The new shuttle services a.k.a. Ateneo Ikot =) will be available to the Ateneo community. With a fee of 5 pesos to any of the 5 dropzones (South parking [South parking entrance & South parking exit], West Parking exit near Social Science AVR, Xavier Hall Driveway, Bellarmine Waiting Shed, North Parking near waiting shed) within Ateneo, it's not bad considering that the tricycles are charging more. Will this be succesful in decongesting Ateneo? I'm leaning towards no.

Earlier, I reported about the unknown trials after the Cavite mutiny in History class. After weeks of the other groups' reports that left the class yawning, it was nice to hear the class giggle/smile a bit earlier when I did my report. Everyone loves sarcasm. I called Rafael de Izquierdo "The Magician" because he magically does things with the law since he was the governor-general.

Hopefully, my teacher appreciated the creative effort in bringing a boring history lesson to life.

    You can't please everyone...

In Theology, we were given a situation:

A terrorist group holds you and others as hostage. The leader of the terrorists gives you a gun with one bullet in it, and he forces your hand to place the gun on the side of your friend's head. He asks you to pull the trigger because if you don't, he will push the bomb trigger he is holding that will blow up a nearby building with 200 people in it, including your family and your friend's family.

You cannot turn around and shoot the terrorist because there are snipers around with their guns pointed at you. Their laser sights keep sweeping throughout your head. The second that they suspect that you are attempting anything funny, you're dead, and the same goes for the other 200 people in the other building since you didn't do what they asked.

So basically, you only have two options, shoot your friend and save 200 people or do not do anything and risk losing 200 people.

    ----
    What would be your choice?
    ----

    ----

    ----

    ----

I won't shoot anyone. I won't give them any inkling of an idea that they have the power to force anyone to obey them. I won't give them the idea that they are "God". If they blow up the building and killed the 200 people there, it is the terrorists' fault. I didn't have anything to do with their decision.

My options are suppressed by humans. It is not God who offered me that option.

Impractical? By saving 200 people may be practical for you today, but you might spend the rest of your days paying, in one way or another, for killing your friend ---> making it really impractical.

As a result, I abided by not one, but two of the absolute rules of the Church: Thou shalt not kill an innocent person directly, and Thou shalt not lead anyone to sin.

When Judgment day comes, God won't ask me "Why did you press the bomb trigger?" because I didn't.

There's always risk involved when you choose either side. You may have a whole mob angry at you for not saving their loved ones. It is difficult I know, but did anyone say it wasn't? However, at least by choosing this side, you have some guarantees (like the Judgment in Judgment day) that the other option couldn't give.

Therefore, it is their decision to mock or make fun of me, to blow up the building because I didn't do anything, because I didn't fight back.

As long as I'm not the one leading them to sin.

    9 days.

    Write me a story

Quite a number of people asked me to tell them a story when they learned that I wrote stories. So let me tell you a simple, fictional one then...

Cloudy-eyed was Em when he trudged his way out of his aphotic classroom. Gazing at the overcast sky, it sprinkled him with a few raindrops that partly lifted the fog out from his eyes.

    Just an ordinary day.

His stomach asked for food, so he grabbed a chicken ham sandwich garnished with lettuce, eggs and tomato from a nearby stall. For his beverage, he got a cup of iced tea.

As he headed to the parking lot, he received a text that his ride wasn't there yet. Not knowing where to go since his mind was still hazy from all the philosophical lessons he absorbed that day, he just let his feet take him to where they want to go.

His feet led him inside the cafeteria. They made their way through the shroud of students towards the side stairs and up to the second floor of the cafeteria. His feet didn't stop there though as they just went by the stalls and out the upper cafeteria door.

As he passed through the gloomy corridor, a bright smile greeted him breaking the daze he was in. It was En, his friend. She asked if he could go with her to buy some food to which Em positively responded. They left their bags on a table in the upper cafeteria and headed down to the "usual" stall En buys her food. Em didn't notice what she bought, but he was sure that it had the cup of mint tea she loved so much.

When they returned upstairs, En asked if they could "small talk". Surprised, Em couldn't think of anything to say so En started by asking what high school he came from.

    "Ateneo High School," he replied.
"Really? You don't look like someone coming from the Ateneo. What's your section?"
    "J"
    "Really now? J?"
    "Yes, J."
    "You're kidding me. J?"
    "Yes."
"You don't look some from J."
    "I am from J."

This went on around three more times.

"You ever went on a soiree?" En continued.
    "Once." Em replied.
    "Was that in Maricris' house?"
    "Yes."
"Really? Did you know that I was there too?"
    "Really?"

    Both were in disbelief.

Flashbacks from the soiree and the crazy antics (like throwing people into the pool and the broken vase), their "old" high school selves and social statuses burned brightly in their conversation.

It's a small world after all.

Their conversation drew to a close when Em's ride arrived. They promised each other to continue their tete-a-tete sometime. As they went down the stairs, En insisted that Em should go this Friday to a prayer session. Em said that he'll try to go. Before they went their separate ways, they exchanged cellphone numbers and said their goodbyes.

Both of them left with a beaming smile and at the same time, in disbelief. They still can't imagine the fact that they were in the same soiree at the same place & time together without knowing each other.

And the sun started to peek from behind the clouds.

It's unedited, so I apologize if there are instances of wrong grammar, vague segments or illogical sentences.

In the semi-finals of the World Pool Masters, Earl Strickland lost out to Tony Drago in a close 7-8 match. INJUSTICE! Is the end of my winning streak in billiards looming just around the corner? At least Drago went on to win the cup beating out Hsia.

Biggest shocker of the World Pool Masters: Hsia vs Hohmann, 8-0.

    10 DAYS. :)
