Reliving

I knew I lost my stamina ever since first year college. Unlike in my grade school and high school days where I usually headed straight for the covered courts and played basketball with our team, "The Dismissal Boys" =p, I rarely played basketball in college due to hectic schedules and health problems. Back then, I could last for four hours without stopping and gasping for breath.

Yesterday, I managed to play basketball once more, one game in the high-school covered courts, another in the college covered courts. I never thought I could still run up and down the basketball court in two five-on-five games just like the old days. Sure, I still got tired during the stretch, but at least I was able to keep up with the pace. Even though I only scored one basket in the first game, and none in the second game, I didn't regret it. My offense may have shown that I'm not skilled enough to play basketball, but my defense said otherwise. Like my buddy Migs pointed out, I played like Bruce Bowen of the Spurs.

I injured myself during the second game. I pulled a leg muscle when I went around a screen and jumped up to try and block a shot. It is still a bit stiff now, but it doesn't bother me that much.

Twirling

A Little Plug first

Jen Someone will be playing at the open jam at Fiesta Mundo Fort Building on May 1, 11 pm.

Compiling Going On

Now I have:
1. Colors - Utada Hikaru (jap)
2. Depend on You - Ayumi Hamasaki (jap)
3. Valenti - BoA (kor)
4. Shou Ai Ni - Jolin Tsai (chi)
5. Hui Dao Gou Qu - Jay Chou (chi)
6. 10 Minutes - Lee Hyo-Ri (kor)
7. Song for a Lady - H.O.T. (kor)
8. With Coffee - Brown Eyes (kor)
9. Because I'm a Girl - Kiss (kor)
10. Final Distance - Utada Hikaru (jap)

--- space ---

11. Some 4-in-love Videos (I think I have them all in RM format, not the best quality though)

I know, I said before that this compilation shouldn't have duplicates, but I take it back. I just couldn't resist adding Final Distance. I probably won't do the VCD due to the different sizes and video formats, but that only means more space in the CD! So any suggestions out there?

Lee Hyo-Ri is hot! With Coffee by Brown Eyes has a milder effect on the emotions compared to KISS' Because I'm a Girl.

The upcoming videos are (can change according to availability) :

1. Time Goes By - Every Little Thing (jap)
2. Jewel Song - BoA (kor)
3. Vanilla - Gackt (kor)
4. Wajuh - Se7en (kor)
5. Go Girl (Koi no Victory) - Morning Musume (jap) *unavailable*
6. So Crazy - Namie Amuro (jap)
7. Come With Me - Koda Kumi (jap)
8. Sky Blue Dream - Park Ji Yoon (kor)
9. As for One Day - Morning Musume (jap)
10. Be My Love - Speed (jap)
11. Perfect Man - Shinhwa (kor)

Boredom is slowly flowing in my system

A few symptoms:
1. I watched Click (a show I don't watch), and got all giddy whenever Iya showed up on screen, then move to Game Channel to see Iya again.
2. I played Viva Hot Babes' "Bulaklak" on the piano whenever I pass by our sala.
3. I flipped through different channels searching for Ping Lacson's new commercial (the controversial coke one).
4. I couldn't write anything except one line.
5. I got frustrated when they replaced Shaider with Medabots on GMA.
6. I read the same computer magazine at least four times each day.
7. I played along with the Coca-Cola Beat Game on SOP.
8. I kept on listening and remixing all the MP3's in my laptop. And there are only two types of Mp3s in my computer, the Shaider music and Jen Someone.
9. I'm playing Yu-Gi-Oh (a two-player card game) by myself.
10. I kept on making grammatical errors in my posts, and edited them in my mind afterwards.

Round Round

Music Video Compilation

I'm currently making a cd compilation of their music videos or MTV's. Since Philippine music videos are accessible here, I'm talking about other Asian countries like Japan, China and Korea.

So far, here's in my list (can change according to availability of videos [videos with (!) are already in] ) ---

1. Colors - Utada Hikaru (!)
2. Depend on You - Ayumi Hamasaki (!)
3. Valenti - BOA (!)
4. Shou Ai Ni - Jolin Tsai
5. Hui Dao Gou Qu - Jay Chou
6. 10 Minutes - Lee Hyo-Ri
7. Song for a Lady - H.O.T.
8. With Coffee - Brown Eyes
9. Because I'm a Girl - Kiss (!)

?. Toxic - Britney Spears & BOA --- I'll put it as an extra if I'm able to find one.

Any more suggestions, just as long as the compilation doesn't have duplicates of the same artist.

About the elections

Actually, I'm not undecided. I have candidates in line that I would just like to keep hidden for now. I even have a party list already. I'm just saying that I am because I'm still open to any candidate who can enter my list and replace the existing one.

Migs, if you think you're the only one that I'm talking about in my last post, well, you're incorrect about that so don't get hurt by it. I've been receiving in all media known to man about vote this, vote that because this and that, and yet, that candidate does nothing now to reflect those things they say are positive about him/her but just hit on any candidate that is not him/her or part of his/her party. Can't a candidate answer a question like "What is your platform?" without adding "Unlike this candidate" in it nowadays? I've been keeping a "voyeur's" eye regarding the elections, so don't worry about me.

F4 news for you (if you're still into them)

F4 will be filming a movie "Sha Shou de Lao Dao" (Murderer's Clock). Kang You Shou revealed that his officially advancing into China this year. He has already signed popular group F4 to star in the comedy movie "Sha Shou de Lao Dao". This movie is going to be the Chinese version of a previous Korean movie. The movie is scheduled to start filming in June in China. There is exactly 4 leading roles so it fits F4 very well. Kang You Shou has never seen F4 but knows that they
are popular.

- F4 Philippines

HOUSTON Rockets finally win against the epitome of how basketball shouldn't be played.

I can't believe Malone tried to intentionally injure Yao earlier.
Bostjan Nachbar IS a secret weapon
Francis is still the Franchise
Fisher is still a flopper
Officials were fair (surprise!) this time around, called it evenly.
I think this is the first time I've ever heard of a referee getting injured without any physical contact whatsoever.

Pull me out

A week has passed since the last time I went out of my house on April 15, 2004.

I am now a clock that points out the forward flow of time, but stuck in a rotation as if time was circular, as if the one in the morning is the same as one in the afternoon. Four batteries keep me running: creating Jen's site, CD & my sites, editing my literature & other people's works for a compilation, watching television, and playing computer games/checking e-mail. Seven days of revolving around those actions.

A clock never gets bored. It just tells time by moving its hands and point to twelve unchanging numbers. And I'm not bored, but I'm just tired of doing the same old stuff. I now hunger for a little change much like a clock when the second hand plays with the time by stopping for more than one second and goes on as if nothing happened.

====

Please don't force me to vote for someone in the upcoming elections by bombarding me in all kinds of media. Don't tell me that I will make the right decision in the elections with a passive message underneath it. Even if I'm a bit undecided, I will not close my mind and just vote for a candidate who someone else believes should be the right one for the job. I have my own mind too, and I would not be swayed by anyone to vote for someone I don't believe in.

One thing for sure, I don't like candidates who attack other candidates as if they don't have specks in their eyes too.

Now this ANIME, I want to watch.

Japanese Distributor IMOVE has officially announced the development of an anime movie staring Russian pop duo t.A.T.u. "t.A.T.u. Paragate" will be directed by Kashima Norio (Crusher Joe, Dirty Pair) and Susume Kudoh (Sakura Wars, Silent Mobius). Cowboy Bebop creator Shinichiro Watanabe will direct the opening animation. The 100 minute long motion picture will be released in Japan next November.

And you think you've seen everything in anime.

Free

After two hours of splicing tracks from different CD's yesterday, Jen's EP is done. Two copies now exist. AND, you won't get any pirated versions from me peeps. No P2P sending or whatever. Support her guys.

Its cover and the mass production are still in the works.

And philosophers, and other people would smite me that I'm doing all of these, site and all, gratis et amore. Every now and then, I hear, "You should get paid for this", "That's an amazing website, and you are doing this for free?", "Milo, you've been spending all this time creating the site, and you're not asking for anything in return?" and other money-in-mind comments.

My only answer to these people is, "She's a friend of mine," hoping that this simple sentence would make them clam up and think. Just to see her happy is enough thanks for me.

Maybe, in the future if I have more clients, but not for Project: Jen.

A friend of mine does webpages for P3,000 minimum, and he does it pretty well. He has been hired by several departments in the Ateneo to do their department websites.

Many fear that I might grow up penniless in the future because I just love helping out for free. True friends of mine know that, and those who don't know me bring me down with heartless comments like, "He thinks he's God who can save everyone."

But, I don't regret it.

---

And Houston has better chances against the Lakers instead of the Kings. 'Nuff said.

---

Moments of the day...

1) While doing Jen's EP in the Placement office, Thea says in reference to Jen and I, "Kayo ba?" to which we responded "No!"

2) Birthday ni Ate April! Free ice cream and cake sa placement office!

3) Placement reps request Jen for a sample of her singing. And she sung live, and was showered with compliments, ala American Idol.

Calm after the storm

Disappointment

3.5... 3.5. Why does it have to be 3.5? Can someone hack the Ateneo servers and change one of my B's to an A?

Now, before you whack me with a huge mallet for complaining that I got a 3.5, a grade that separates me from an average student, let me explain why I'm complaining.

My goal was to get DL first honors for this semester, nothing less. However, I'm not those students who can easily get DL's as easy getting dead leaves from quad 1. Given that, using my almighty control over my schedule for this semester, I placed several subjects here and there until I got a schedule that pretty much, summed up my strengths, or at least, a portion of them. And I failed.

Now, I'm faced with two semesters filled with thesis and core subjects, the most difficult of all the subjects in an Atenean's life. No more flexibility, no more power to fix my schedules. I have to take what's given to me and accept them. That's what I get when I place all my powers in one semester. You can't blame me from trying.

Ok, go ahead, whack me now.

The first official Jen Someone ringtone is here! *Get yours now!*

SBC - the cacao funhouse

After getting our grades, Bea, Migs & I met up with Jen and Jeline in Seattle's Best Coffee along Katipunan. Hot coco and tuna pandesal... delish. And Jen played around with my digicam, and now I have around thirty pictures in my laptop. wacko pics, i tell you... plenty were candid shots, and I looked like a fool, wait, I am one, in most of them. Bea, if you read this, take care.

Back to the red atmosphere

Now I have a Jen Someone mp3, as well as hundreds of Jen pics in my laptop for her site. Probably, plenty more when I meet up with her on Thursday in Ateneo. So watch out for further updates in her official site!

Hmmm...

Here I Am
Air Supply

Here I am, playing with those memories again
And just when I thought time had set me free
Those thoughts of you keep taunting me

Holding you, a feeling I never outgrew
Though each and every part of me has tried
Only you can fill that space inside

So there's no sense pretending
My heart it's not mending

Just when I thought I was over you
And just when I thought I could stand on my own
Oh baby, those memories come crashing through
And I just can't go on without you

On my own, I've tried to make the best of it alone
I've done everything I can to ease the pain
But only you can stop the rain
I just can't live without you
I miss everything about you

Just when I thought I was over you
And just when I thought I could stand on my own
Oh baby, those memories come crashing through
And I just can't
Go on without
Go on without
It just no good without
You
(Just when I thought I was over you)
Without you
(Just when I thought I could stand on my own)
Without you
(Just when I thought I was over you)
Without you
(Just when I thought I could stand on my own)
Without you
(Just when I thought I was over you)
Without you
(Just when I thought I could stand on my own)

Bakit...

...tila wala akong naramdaman sa pelikulang "The Passion of the Christ" kumpara sa naramdaman nina Jen at Migs? Very powerful movie, in both graphic, and symbolic terms. You will wince in pain, and will leave the theaters speechless", isang malawak at malabong pananaw lamang.

Mahina raw ang pelikulang ito kumpara sa the Ten Commandments, Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus Christ Superstar o maging sa The Last Temptation of Christ.

Subalit, hindi ako umaasa sa kanilang mga pananaw, at manonood muli ako bukas ng The Passion of the Christ, at kung papayagan ng panahon, Huwebes at Biyernes hanggang mahalungkat ang lahat ng maaaring naiwanan ko sa unang panonood. Isasama ko pa iyong The Last Temptation of Christ doon sa aking panonoorin.

The Best Sleepover

Awaken, breathe / Hear the calling in the wind / The voice, it's saying / A journey must begin

March 31, 2004 -- In a day where the Philippines was covered by ten layers of wool blankets, I accompanied Migs to his commercial auditions in a nicotine-and-perfume aerated studio of Unitel. Along the way back to his home, we treated ourselves to Coke floats, a cloud nine haven in a sixteen ounce cup. The radio, however, left us with a bad aftertaste , as it reported on the recent John Osmena case regarding "raping" a call boy.

We'll fly like a bird / In a scattered cloudy sky / Leave aside the city worries / It's just a minute away

In the evening, we arrived in the Communications Department in Ateneo to meet with Migs' friends, Cielo, Jim, and Eddie. We got a little delayed in our Eastwood dinner because we had to wait for somebody in Marilou's film showing class. However, the wasted time didn't matter as we had a great time in Fazzoli's. I had generous servings of Italian chicken, flavored rice, and glasses of lemonade. After that, Migs' friends had a smoke and San Mig lights. I got offered a bottle, and cigs, but clean, little I, refused. Weakness? I think not. We finished the evening with a restful stay in Seattle's Best in Katipunan. I capped the night with a chocoload of Brownie Javakula and a triple chocolate muffin.

Quote of the night: "He has more issues than Time magazine."

In my heart, I'll paint a picture / And I swear, it's where I'll be

April 1, 2004 -- When we got to Celebrity, the billiards place was still closed so we opted to play basketball in Ayala Heights instead. Due to my "near-the-end-of-school" sickness, I haven't played basketball for over a month. It showed, as my first attempts in shooting the three-ball, my forte, avoided the ring. But later on, my guiding system got fixed, and I was making threes as easy as fixing a sandwich. I still got to work on my stamina and my mid-range jumper though, especially if the 4-J IAC plan falls into place next year.

I shall be there / Will you be there / I shall be there / Will you be there too?

Around six in the evening, we met up with Jen and friends at Shakey's in Powerplant. They treated us with peperroni pizza. Jen asked me to close my eyes as she brought out her surprise present for me. F4 girls would be envious, as she gave me a F4 umbrella, two sheets of F4 stickers, and a Vic Zhou bathware set. Everything cannot be bought in the Philippines. When I did her website, I wasn't asking for anything in return, so I was speechless when she presented me with these items as a gesture of thanks.

Oh yeah, and we passed Eddie Gil's official headquarters along the way there. Cool.

Come and look in silence / Believe in what you see

After having a banana smoothie, we watched The Passion of the Christ. Wow. Now, I understand why that Houston person confessed his crimes after watching the movie. Very powerful movie, in both graphic, and symbolic terms. You will wince in pain, and will leave the theaters speechless.

There are several questions in the film that asks us, the viewers, to answer.
  • Who is Jesus? (Caiaphas)
  • Can Jesus really give me freedom from an ugly past? (Magdalene)
  • What is truth, and how do I recognize it? (Pilate)

We stopped by in Seattle's Best and analyzed the movie, and conversed about other less important things.

    ----

What was with the Satan and the baby?

To quote from Mel Gibson, "It's evil distorting what's good. What is more tender and beautiful than a mother and a child? So the Devil takes that and distorts it just a little bit. Instead of a normal mother and child you have an androgynous figure holding a 40-year-old 'baby' with hair on his back. It is weird, it is shocking, it's almost too much—just like turning Jesus over to continue scourging him on his chest is shocking and almost too much, which is the exact moment when this appearance of the Devil and the baby takes place."

The starry skies can move the mountains / The sun will warm the sea

And to think the surprises would stop there. Along the way back to Migs' house, I severely missed Bea, so I texted her, and soon, we were exchanging messages. Migs got a bit hungry so we decided to stop by Select. However, there was no parking space so we opted to search for one. Yellow Cab had no parking space, and so we ended up in Seattle's Best. (SBC should pay me for plugging their place over and over in this entry =p)

While we were headed for the parking lot behind SBC, Migs, to our surprise, saw Bea with a friend inside the place. When we got there, I hugged Bea tightly; I missed her so much since we didn't get to see each other much during third year due to our contrasting schedules and the abundance of work. I never expected her to be around Katipunan as she usually was in her home in Alabang during summer. Even though I didn't get to converse that much with Bea because she had a friend over, and we were seated in a different place, just to see her was enough for me. To celebrate a truly great day, I had hot chocolate and a triple chocolate muffin.

We never planned to go to SBC in the first place. It was as if fate, destiny or whatever you want to call it was leading us to SBC to meet Bea.

In my heart, I'll paint a picture / And I swear, it's where I'll be

April 2, 2004 -- Lunch buffet for 190, delish and cheap! The "create-your-own" Halo-halo really hit the spot. We, then, went to Celebrity to play billiards. At first, my game was in tandem with my NBA team, Houston earlier (they got beaten by the Lakers) as I dropped the first two racks in a race to four. However, I won the next four to win it 4-2.

The way I came back from the deficit, I felt, was fulfilling (A perfect positional shot, a difficult long cut shot, and I forgot the other one). But, the final rack had took away the feeling of victory as a wrong shot by Migs accidentally placed the nine-ball in the mouth of the pocket, the one-ball, only a short distance away with ball-in-hand. This enabled me to finish the rack with an easy 1-9 combination, just my first shot after my break. It's a victory, it extends my winning streak, and I'll take it, but it doesn't have that fulfilling, "I won because I made that happen" essence in the end.

I shall be there / Will you be there / I shall be there / Will you be there too?

    Thank you God.
