WWE Live Tour in Manila 5

The Aftermath

The WWE ring and I

Where the great superstars have wrestled

NEWS

from wwe.com
The touring Superstars of RAW were caught amid an escalating political crisis Friday, as the president of the Philippines locked down the country after what was declared a failed attempt to overthrow the leader from power.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo called for a state of emergency and the military went to high alert, fortifying the presidential palace and arresting demonstrators celebrating the 20th anniversary of the fall of former dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

WWE Champion John Cena, Triple H, Women’s Champion Trish Stratus and many other WWE Superstars were asked to stay in groups and when possible remain in their hotel rooms because of the chaos and potential for violence. Citizens were told that all rallies and protests were banned and would lead to more arrests. By late afternoon, thousands were in the streets in defiance of the government’s orders, according to multiple media reports.

Despite the danger, 15,000 determined WWE fans braved the streets and filled the Araneta Coliseum for a successful RAW live event in Manila. There were no reports of violence at the venue, and all WWE Superstars and personnel have since safely left Manila, WWE.com confirmed by phone.

What a way to greet our guests huh? Plus, we even had an incident where a reporter pissed Triple H off.

Results & Notes

WWE Champion John Cena vs. Edge with Mick Foley as the referee
- Foley says Edge and Lita kissing was the most disgusting thing he has seen in his life.
- Foley caught Lita choking Cena on the ropes on the third time she did it causing her ejection.
- Edge speared Mick Foley, speared another ref. Major fantasy points :)
- Fans were having a battle of their own. "Let's go Cena" chants immediately followed by "Let's go Edge!" chants. Of course, I was with the Edge guys. I'm after all, the Rated R superstar.
- We were cheering "Let's go Lita" when the crowd when "Let's go Cena."
- A sign read, "Cena vs Pacquiao"
- Cena managed to lock in the STFU, and soon, FU for the win.

Triple H vs. Big Show in a street fight.
- To everyone's dismay, no sledgehammer was produced and used. Triple H only used a cord, steel steps and a steel chair. What a weaponless street fight.
- Triple H entrance was awesome. One lucky fan even got his water bottle when he threw it ringside.
- Triple H received an overwhelming response from the crowd as if he was the babyface among the two.
- Triple H won after Show lands on the steel steps and Triple H hits Show with a chair. A "con-chair-to" "con-stair-to" type.

Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair.
- Shelton and Ric Flair each cut their own promos. Shelton reiterating that he wasn't a momma's boy causing the crowd to chant "Momma's Boy" over and over the entire match. Ric Flair saying that Momma has a big fat ass, and isn't here because they couldn't fit her in the plane. Flair also spoke about his love for Filipina women, and that he will be with 5 Filipina women tonight.
- "Whoooo!" were heard repeatedly. A lot of people brought "whooooo!" signs as well.
- Shelton used a figure four on Flair, Flair reversed it.
- Bad ending in my opinion. Shelton and Flair chased each other outside the ring. Shelton slid in the ring, as Flair slid in, Shelton rolled up Flair, and used the ropes as leverage to get the three count.

Rob Van Dam vs. Carlito
- RVD's frog splash looks real better live. He won using it too.
- Carlito was playing to the crowd that he was going to throw his shirt as a gift to the crowd. Then he went out of the ring, circled the barricades, and went backstage to leave his shirt there. This turned the Carlito chants into "Asshole" chants.
- Everyone was doing the RVD taunt. People in the crowd though didn't know when to show "RVD" or "Rob Van Dam".

Women's Champion Trish Stratus vs. Torrie Wilson
- Trish won via chick kick. The Matrix looked real good!
- Trish spanked Torrie after the match.
- Botched move: Trish was going for the Stratusphere, she came up short, and Torrie had to grab the legs and put it around her neck.

Viscera vs. Gene Snitsky
- Damn, Vis is big. He won with the Samoan drop.
- My eyes are burning! He gave Snitsky a wedgie and did the visagra.

Val Venis vs. Chris Masters
- Chris attempted the the Masterlock twice. He finally won by it too.
- Chris is a comedy man. He flexed his muscles, his chest, and his stomach! Crowd laughed.
- Venis gave a towel to a little girl.
- Chris has loads of appeal to the Manila crowd. Even more than Venis.

Eugene vs. Tyson Tomko. Maria was special guest announcer
- I love Maria! Whew!
- Eugene won via stunner. We were playing a game to see which finishing move Eugene will employ.
- Eugene wore a Team Pacquiao jacket as he came into the ring.
- Eugene was funny all throughout the match. He bit Tomko's butt, rode him like a horse, did the "Lady in the Lake" move, irish whipped Tomko while Eugene ran in the perpendicular motion, and others.

****************************************************************

Since I didn't watch Saturday, here are the results I picked up:

  • WWE Champion John Cena d. Edge in a steel cage via FU.
  • Flair & Big Show d. Triple H & Chris Masters via Figure Four It was Flair's and Maria's birthday. The faces brought a cake to the ring after the match. The crowd sang "Happy Birthday". Triple H came back from the locker room to greet and hug Flair.
  • Shelton Benjamin d. Viscera
  • Mick Foley d. Carlito.
  • Trish Stratus & Maria d. Torrie Wilson & Lita, with Val Venis as the referee.
  • Rob Van Dam d. Tomko.
  • Eugene d. Snitsky.

(Guess, bad days for the goatee guys the entire Manila tour)

My first live WWE Show... and it was a blast! The crowd was hot, and their cheers never died down throughout the entire night.

Yes, I finally got to see "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Rated R Superstar" Edge, "100% Stratusfaction Guaranteed" Trish Stratus, and to my surprise, Maria! Searching for Stars

I've been to eight music stores in counting, in different locations. Odyssey, O-Music, Tower Records, Music One, Astrovision, plus their other branches. Yet, no one carried the Cranberries' album "Stars". As a matter of fact, all of them did not carry any of the Cranberries' album. Not a single one, not even singles.

It's strange. It was as though the Cranberries disappeared from the face of the earth. Sure, they've not been producing any more singles or MTVs lately, but they haven't officially disbanded. Yet, I see Latoya Jackson's album, Celine Dion's "Falling into You", all the Spice Girls Albums, even BBMaks, Smashing Pumpkins, C-Note and OTT.

    Oh well.

    Free Darko Movement

(Brian) Hill said Darko Milicic, the No. 2 draft pick behind James in the 2003 draft acquired Feb. 15 with guard Carlos Arroyo from Detroit, will be given an opportunity to play -- but only after the third-year center learns the system.

I don't know about you, but it sounds like bull to me. This is the same statement the Detroit Pistons used before, and look at where it got Darko -- a human victory cigar.

    Going Back to my Roots

I spent practically weeks for this task. Fatigue set in, overtime hours ticked away, but I never quivered.

I was a layout artist once more, and I love it.

    The Desk Phone Disappears!

And I feel the rising prices first hand. My desk phone disappears due to cost-cutting measures. Now I share the phone with two other officemates. However, the phone is in their side of the cube thus making it a bit of a pain for me to answer the phone since I have to go over the other side.

Plus, anyone who calls will know who is calling me.

    Beautiful, simply beautiful

As I commuted home from Migs' house, I saw a very cute girl with a guitar on her back. We glanced at each other for a split-second when we crossed the first street of Aurora and went on our merry way. She actually took a glance back again.

Unknown to her, I was watching her from afar. No, I wasn't stalking her, but observing her help an old lady and probably her grade school grand-daughter cross the streets of Aurora, and assist them in getting a jeepney in the middle of a push-and-shove crowd. The old lady carried a plastic chair and a bag, while the little kid had her schoolbag and snacks.

She could've gone ahead, seeing that a dozen of jeepneys passed her by and by her actions, I found out what jeep she needed to ride on. However, she opted to stay with the old lady and the young granddaughter until they managed to get on a jeepney.

I'm impressed. There are actually people who still exist up to this very day that help people without anyone asking them to, or without any major disaster that had already happened before they react. And she's drop-dead gorgeous too. Beautiful outside, beautiful inside.

I applaud you, miss Whoever You Are. You are one of those people who bring beauty and hope to this country.

    Magic Sing Battle

What do the songs, Zombie and Free to Decide by the Cranberries, Don't Cry out Loud by Melissa Manchester, Viva Forever by the Spice Girls have in common?

The answer: I can sing them all pretty well, according to Magic Sing. I got a 97 for Don't Cry Out Loud, 96 for Viva Forever and Zombie, and a 94 for Free to Decide when Migs and I played around with their new Magic Sing Microphone.

We found out that Migs' sings good Creed songs, and songs of the same genre while I'm better in pop-ballads and the Cranberries songs.

We have crazy battles, especially when the "contest" battle where the songs are random and we are forced to sing songs that we don't have any idea that they ever existed.

I won all battles, even the two "choose-your-own-song (CYOS)" battles. The first CYOS battle was close, I only managed to edge out Migs by 7 points. The other 4 battles (contest & CYOS) were a bit of a rout. He ran out of Creed songs to sing.

Our third "contest" battle ended up with me singing "Ipasok Mo". Golly, Filipino artists sure think up of sexual-innuendo-laden titles.

Videoke is truly addicting. I have videoke machines set-up in the family computer at home, and in my laptop as well. But I want a Magic Sing too, it just feels different singing along to a real instrument background instead of MIDI synthesizers.

The End of a Glorious Fight

Our quest for the bowling trophy ended in the quarterfinals. I guess the magic, miracles and luck ran out.

As you can read from my previous post, our team barely made it to the cutoff. Technically, we shouldn't even be here, as the "playing coach" of my team said. If it weren't for those 100+ games by my teammate who averages around 60, we would have never gone this far.

We could've gone higher, and I kind of blame myself for my faulty 82 first game. If I only had scored around my average back then, then our team would've gone much higher, probably fifth or sixth, possibly even fourth.

It was a very interesting quarterfinal though, and we managed to somewhat give the second-ranked team a run for their money. We were facing a major deficit in the first three frames, then we rallied back in the middle frames. Unfortunately, they showed afterwards why they were the second-placed team when almost all of them threw strikes in one frame, capped by a couple of spares in the remaining frames.

Two of my teammates did not play particularly well, and the one who miraculously went past 100 in the elimination round, floated around her true average. Our "playing coach" and the "strike power ball" did not do particularly well like what they did in the eliminations. I scored 140 to lead the team, but it wasn't enough as we lost by around 50 pins.

Next time when this happens, I'll be ready. Hopefully by then, My new range of bowling arsenal will be ready.

    Rejoicing once more

If anyone has the MP3 of this, please send me one. It's the newest Rejoice shampoo commercial.

Mabango ka ba kung walang cologne
"Thank you, doktora" ba ang maliit mong puson
Straight ba ang buhok kung di nagflat-iron
Ganda ba ang lips kahit walang lip gloss
Maputi ka ba kahit walang pulbos
Ang importante buhok mo ay ayos

    CHORUS
Oooh, straight na natural at di mahal
    Mag-eenjoy kang matagal
Oooh, straight na natural at di mahal
    Mukhang sosyal, basta't rejoice natural

'Wag ng problemahin pa ang pera
    May mararating sa mababang halaga
    Ituturo ko, baka magulat ka

Straight na buhok ba ang hanap mo?
Sa parlor mga sisters gagastos ba kayo?
Iba na lang ang gamitin niyo

    *REPEAT CHORUS*

    BRIDGE

    *REPEAT CHORUS*

straight na natural at 'di mahal
    Ikaw at ako
    Tayo'y mag-Rejoice natural
Straight na natural at di mahal

    "Mukhang sosyal pero hindi mahal"

And after all the balls were rolled, pins were knocked down, and the cheers & jeers died down, we actually made it to the top 8! I'm so proud of my team. Million thanks to all of you.

We face team I in the quarterfinals. I hope I can perform to my utmost potential since this game will be tough. With my ball, Go Miracle, and my team, we will surprise everyone and have fun in the process.

    Valentine's with Kyla and Jenica

I treated Jenica out for lunch today as I promised weeks ago. We left past 12:30 pm since I was swamped with work, she was still in a conference meeting.

We planned to have lunch first in Pizza Hut Bistro, but when we got there, there was a long line waiting for their turn to also have their lunch in that place. We went to Paseo Center next, and we saw the same long lines all over the place too. Luckily, we found a table for two in Soup Kitchen.

It was the first time we ate there, and although the servings looked small at first, we ended up feeling so full just because the soup and the bread there was so filling. Everything tasted great too.

We headed to Starbucks in PSE, and got her a Rhumba frappe while I stuck with my favorite coffee jelly frappe. We even got a special gift from Starbucks, a vanilla cookie partially dipped in chocolate delicately wrapped in a plastic casing.

There was also a Kyla concert in the lobby, so we had a clear view of the concert in the place where we were sitting. As if some kind of lighting effect, the sun was perfectly positioned above outside that a shaft of sunlight was directly positioned to where she was singing, making her glow like those angelic CGI effect in movies.

We even saw Kyla up close and personal when we went down on the lobby, and she looked so dazzling as ever, still with her beautiful voice and smile. Too bad we didn't have any cameras on us.

But thanks to my mates who were there as well, I present to you a couple of pictures of that event (also to point out that indeed, there was a concert)

She sung a lot of love songs, but I forgot what the titles of the songs were. I never keep track of those types of songs nowadays anyway.

This is how Valentine's Day went for me this year, with a friend. It was a nice change from the one's I had for the past years where I spent it alone.

Bowling Alley Hopping: Makati Cinema Square

It's the day that I've been practicing for, the bowling tournament in our project.

Meet my new baby, Go Miracle. It's a second-hand, 11 pounder ball with a blue and white cloud-like design. Perfect for its name.

My dad had this made during lunch time today, and I picked it up later in the evening in time for the bowling tournament.

Everything was crazy, especially for our lane. Everyone was noisy, cheering or jeering players. The lanes suddenly had a defect where their pin resetter got cracked, and the screens suddenly went out intermittently. This happened so much that our game got delayed a long time that we finished past 11:00 pm. The other teams had been long gone and we were still playing.

I got really pressured being the team captain, having my own equipment, having to adjust to the new ball and my teammate constantly reminding me of these that I couldn't get my groove on early in the match. My first game went haywire. I scored only 82, the second lowest in my team's scores for that game, very disappointing since my average nowadays is 105. I got really frustrated with myself for getting such a low score.

But in my second game, the power started to kick in. Go Miracle's miracles started clicking, and after the dust had settled and the technical problems got fixed, I finished the second game with a commanding 158, my highest in recent memory. It also helped that I was more focused and relaxed this time around.

My team played really good in my opinion. We went near and over 600 in our two games, thus reaching my set goal for the team. I love my team. We kept on improving and improving. We had a very interesting mixture of players, and it made the game more enjoyable.

I hope we get into the next round.

    Suicide Club

A co-worker was watching the supposedly infamous scene of this film. That very same night, I dreamt of the entire scene exactly as it happened, complete with color and sounds.

Ok, that's it. I got to watch it. Jisatsu Sakuru (Suicide Club), here I come.

My strange pleasure of psychological gory films continues, and it started from Battle Royale.

Although Suicide Club has the same theme, the envisioned collapse of Japanese society, this movie is supposedly the "antithesis" of Battle Royale. In Battle Royale, the adults have lost faith in the youth while in Suicide club, the kids feel that the adults have failed them.

Plus, it is supposedly more shocking and gorier than Battle Royale. Hopefully, the power of the message the director and scriptwriter want to put across remains as strong as the one in Battle Royale.

Bowling Alley Hopping: QC Sports Club

    Talk about old school.

Although the lanes were automatic (thank goodness, it's not manual), the scoring wasn't (yes, it was still the projector on transparency type). The lanes were creaky and crooked, the pins had a yellow tint due to age and the house balls were just old balls of past players that they've discarded due to wear and tear.

Since I did not have a ball, I was forced to use a house ball, and by golly, I couldn't find one that fit me exactly. I settled for a blue ball with a number of holes, and that hurt like hell that even before two games, my hand was aching already. (And I know that I can go as much as 6 games of bowling)

However, I did score a 133, 101, and 116 in the three games here.

    Virus Busters

Watch out, they're coming to get you!

Those little programs designed by hackers, people who do not have any good things to do with their lives, or who are rumored to be the designers of anti-virus software just to wreak havoc on your computer come in various sizes and forms, destructive & spreading potentials, and ways to get in your computer without of you knowing. And they are seemingly created almost everyday, with multiple strains of the same virus.

When I was really young, say about the early to mid -part of grade school years, what upped my interests in computers was not only games but computer viruses. I was exposed to them early, dealing with the likes of Microbe, CPP-NPA-NDF & Pakistani Brain, and the anti-virus software named Vir-Ex. The first book I borrowed from the Ateneo Rizal College Library (yes, I was still a grade schooler) was a book about computer viruses with the viruses at that point in time like the ones mentioned above, Joker and more.

I had this sort of obsession back then that in college, I used to go to RSF, pick a computer and just spend the time eliminating computer viruses that the maintenance in RSF seem to not notice or care at all.

Just two days ago, my sister told me that her USB disk got infected with a worm (worm_gatecoll.a) that came from the RSF, and she accidentally spread that to her laptop. Yesterday, I got a cellphone call from my other sister telling me about the same worm that her entire class got infected due to her professor's laptop. She even accidentally infected the family computer as well.

Everything seems ok now. Some programs were irrecoverable and were deleted, but luckily, those programs were only just games, and can be replaced anytime.

Fighting in the Three Kingdoms Era

When you've grown sick of it, leave it be, then play it again in the future.

Repetitive gameplay makes Dynasty Warriors quite a boring game, but its addicting nature comes from the fact that it is easy to pick up and learn, and the strategy that you wish to employ when trying to fend off hundreds off enemies on screen by your lonesome.

I've been playing Dynasty Warriors 5: Xtreme Legends recently, and I must say that I love the Xtreme Mode. As you are given only a few minutes to complete the stage, you are pressed to find out the way on how to finish the stage without sacrificing the number of points that you can get along the way to help you in the harder battles ahead.

My first character, Milo, was developed in the Dynasty Mode where you start off as a lowly peasant and you try to make your way up to be the general of your chosen force. There are a few storyline branches ahead, and the multitude of weapons you can pick up and use for your character is great. My character finally ended up using an upgraded version of the Peacock Talon. It sucks though that he has moves that make him look gay.

I'm currently using Zou Ci while playing the Xtreme Mode. I tell you, Zou Ci is one broken character. If powered up, he is deadly in all aspects. I wonder how far am I able to take him.

    Return to Kingdom Hearts

*The instrumental section of Hikari (Simple & Clean) by Utada Hikaru wraps the room with its enchanting melody*

"Ha! Ha! Heal! Fire! Simba!" Sora exclaims while fending off, with his Ultima Weapon Keyblade, heartless creatures that suddenly appeared from nowhere.

It's great to be back in the realm of Kingdom Hearts once again. I eagerly anticipate the arrival of the sequel in English this March.

Please, do not delay this game anymore. I've been waiting for this two years ago when you announced that its sequel will be on the shelves December of 2004.

    Uno Fan

Ever since I bought my first copy (the one with Amanda Griffin on the cover) a couple of weeks ago, I have been hooked to this magazine. I have around less than 10 copies right now.

Yes, it has its share of bikini-clad beauties, but I am impressed that it has far more content and deeper topics discussed than what the other magazines have to offer. It is indeed, as the celebrities who agreed to pose for the magazine said, a classy magazine compared to the more popular almost-softporn ones. No wonder they manage to have celebrities like Anne Curtis and Karel Marquez on their covers, stars who are not known to show off skin for money ala Aleck Bovick, Maui Taylor and the Viva Hotbabes.

Uno magazine wipes away the notion that men think only of girls, sex and booze like what the Man Show insinuates. Rather, it delves into health, fitness, dating tips, relationship matters, fashion, cooking, some philosophical babble, and other stuff. It's an amalgam of articles which would help you in your daily life. No "How to make your schlong longer" or "Best sexual positions in bed" with matching photos here. Their articles are better fit to the well-rounded man, not the sex-starved animal. Yes, it is a clean magazine that you won't even be ashamed to show your parents or hide from your girlfriend. If you are expecting to see FHM style of photography here, you'll be severly disappointed.

Probably, it's the reason why they were awarded the most outstanding magazine for men.

    Coffee Heaven

Jenica and I went to Starbucks as a treat. I had free add-on coupons from my planner so I decided to use them today. I gave her one as well.

The barista marvelled at my ingenuity when I placed this order with my free add-on coupon. He even claimed that no one had tried it before, and was willing to try it out later for himself as he imagined that I've created a coffee mix that was good.

I just pointed out that I'm combining my two favorite Starbucks types of coffee. No biggie.

    Presenting the Jelly Rhumba Frappe!
As it's written on the cup

Available in cream or coffee base, light or regular, this coffee mixture makes a good snack for everyone. It combines the best of two coffee mixtures by having crumbled cookies & coffee jelly in one cup.

I believe it is also good for those who are watching their weight as you can make it light, and it also makes you feel heavy thus resisting the urge to eat.

Jenica, who normally doesn't like jelly at all, enjoyed this treat as well. That's saying a lot. She hasn't even finished it up 'til now, and we bought those less than two hours ago already. I guess it was too filling :)

I'm so full, but now I'm wide awake, and I feel so good :)

    Self-Pampering

I decided to pamper myself this lunchtime. I had only a little time to do so, but I feel much relaxed now after weeks of hectic office work.

I had a haircut, mentholized scalp treatment, shampoo, and full-body massage earlier. It was a bit expensive especially because it was done in I forget the name of the place (hehehe... too relaxed), but it won't occur in a monthly basis. I even drifted to sleep quite a couple of times. It was good.

Besides, I never pampered myself physically before, except maybe via food.

Yeah, I came in thirty-minutes late from lunch, but it's ok.

    February 01, 2006

    Out for dinner

    I didn't play bowling today.

Well, my relatives were here from the States, and this only happens once in a while.

We had dinner in Chicken Bacolod in the Circle. Their food was great, but the service was terrible. The food took almost an hour to appear on the table & the waiters were less than friendly as if they were saying "Get out already!"

I've eaten in other Chicken Bacolods in the country before, and this is the first time I've experienced such service.

Just a warning when you go and eat in that specific branch :)
