Digging Skeletons

I am not impressed.

With this whole scandal regarding the Gloria-gate (since when did gate become a suffix now?), I cannot believe that they are regarding this recorded chopsuey of audio as a very strong piece of evidence. With all the power technology brings us, even a ten-year-old boy can produce a fake "wiretapped" conversation.

Even if the CD contains the truth, one can also point out the large gaps in between the conversations. For example, there was a supposed conversation on the 26th of May 2004 at 9:11 am between who they suspect as "Gary" and "Commissioner." Afterwards, the next conversation over that tapped phone was on 11:04? You mean to tell me that there was no calls on that phone for almost 2 hours? Another conversation was on May 26, 15:16. The next one happened at 19:50. What did they do in between those hours, have a siesta?

I do not even believe that the original, mother-of-all tape contains only three hours of conversations. What they have here is an edited masterpiece aimed to destroy the credibility of President Gloria.

They don't even know where these CDs come from. Even Tatad, who was pointed to be the source, tells everyone that it was sent to him. The opposition is playing a hands-off policy when it comes into involvement in this issue.

There was a pretty interesting conversation between a man and a woman, supposedly Gary and GMA on the tapes. Here is the transcribed conversation:

----------------------------------------------
Conversation between a man and a woman on 28 22:13 May 2004
Gary: Hello, good evening ma’am.
GMA: Hello, si the FPJ camp raw will file a case against the Board of Canvassers of ano, dun sa
Marawi and the Military?
Gary: Ano, ma’am?
GMA: The FPJ camp raw will file a case against the Board of Canvassers and the military in
Marawi.
Gary: Hindi naman po siguro nila maa-ano yung ating Board of Canvassers, pero ang military, si
Judane, sa kanila si judane. I do not know why they will file.
GMA: Oo, oo.
Gary: Sa kanila si Judane ma’am. In fact I have to work with Gen. Esteron and Gen. Qiamco at that time,
pinalitan nga niya si Judane for a while. Kaya kwan, pero bakit nila pafile-filan and military na sa kanila
lahat. Halos ayaw na nga mag-give way sa amin ng mga tao.

GMA: Oo, meron silang pinakidnap ... (line cut)
----------------------------------------------

It's a very interesting time for the line to be suddenly cut.

These and other discrepancies in the main but illegal evidence in this case brings me to think that both sides did somehow manipulate votes, tallies, ballots, and whatever they can use to place the advantage on their side. Probably, both sides were so good at it that they technically cancelled each other out, or at least 90% and finally showing that GMA won by a slim 1M margin.

But, no matter what happens, unfortunately, the country will lose whoever emerges victorious in this case. It's not just the candidates themselves, but also the citizens. As long as they don't stop complaining and thinking about what's best for themselves, even if you put the most holy and righteous man in the presidential seat, nothing will satisfy their hunger for nationwide improvement.

Come to think of it, even Jesus got crucified at the hands of selfish men. What more a mere mortal?
