It's Official, Gays and Me don't mix [The Sat. Class results]

It's the injusticed class and I vs my gay teacher. Geezzz.... how many disgruntled gays must innocent I go through?

And although we got one good thing about it (we are finally getting to know our grades), we left there in frustration due to his attitude.

We laid our cards as gently as possible, handling it in a calm manner and citing the "injusticed" instances --- just like Fr. Javellana wanted it. We even omitted some points of our argument to comply with the peaceful and professional nature we wanted.

However, he took it, should I say, pretty personally (as seen in his twitching cheekbone - a sign that he's angry.) From his mild-mannered persona, he transformed into a shield-bearing bitch (sorry for the lack of better term).

What he did:
  • He turned us into grade-hungry individuals who sought an A. We are creative writers, we don't base our life around high grades.
  • He said that we should be ashamed at ourselves by bringing this up. This is our right to complain in a professional way -- read the Magna Carta
  • He kept berating us, hitting us with harsh words and tones --- especially to our spokespeople as if everything was their fault.
  • He never considered any of our explanations, saying that "everything was closed" as soon as he gave some sort of explanation (some of them he magically came up with. --- if the entire class doesn't know about it, then 100%, he never mentioned it, yet he kept on insisting that he did.)
  • He even said that "I'm not getting paid here to teach this class." We give him that, thanks for the effort, but we are not paying the Ateneo to give us teachers who don't know how to be teachers and who have a terrible attitude (that turned all the terror teachers in the Ateneo into meek rabbits.)

He was on defense mode all the time, never admitted once that he "might" have done something wrong.

We didn't fight back due to the fact that everything we said fell on deaf ears. Our spokesmen kept on repeating that "we were not attacking [him]", but he was already worked up to the point that he seems to think that he is the God of Basic Graphic Design.

I was ready to say, "The class' main problem about you is your attitude! That's what you're showing right now!"

However, I didn't want to turn this into a mindless, bizarre mudslinger. (Deja vu for me, this was my same action back then in the case of the Sophomore/Junior Forums. I just kept quiet even if they were provoking me to fight back.)

This battle is not just for us anymore because it is pretty late in the school year. This is for all the people who might have him as a mentor one way or another --- like in case he chooses to teach again. Let us be the guinea pigs for the next generation.

So what do we do? We have to report the results of the talk to Fr. Javellana. And we already set an appointment. Good luck to us. I hope that everything goes well.

    Blessed be.

Evil, Levitate, Classic, Live and Justice

After we had our Philosophy class earlier, we all left believing that man's nature is evil due to the fact that no one could defend that man's nature is good.

Come to think of it, it may be true. Look at a man's actions no matter how common they are. A man breathes because he needs it. A man gives alms to the poor either to receive praise, or to get that good feeling in him. A man has friends so he could either have connections in the future, have someone to share his feelings with, or simply just have someone as company so as to not be left alone. It's always he, he, he, or if you put it in your perspective, you, you, you, or me, me, me. Man's actions always have a hint of selfishness in them.

(And suddenly, here, I had a flashback of Joe saying in our cell group that and I quote, "even Jen has sinned sometime")

According to Glaukon, there is no man that does good out of his own freedom. Look at Lord of the Rings. Why in the world did Tolkien choose invisibility as the sole power of the most evil ring in the entire world? Probably it is because when there is no fear of getting caught or being seen, you have the ultimate freedom to do anything you please. There are no rules. And always, you end up doing things first for your own pleasure/need/want. If you have that power of invisibility, what is the FIRST thing that would hit your mind? And probably, I know where the pervs are going.

And if you compare the two extremes... evil will always do evil but will look good in doing it. Part of being evil is to trick people into believing that you are good. Your image would appeal the people, and you would have an easier time doing things. Good, on the other hand, doesn't care about his image so usually, he falls grace in the public's eyes. He doesn't cover up anything, so all his shortcomings are exposed to the public. He would have a harder time in life. Probably this is where the saying, "good people finish last" comes from.

Due to these, it would be summarized in three points.
    1. All people are evil.
    2. It is more useful to be evil.
    3. Evil people are happier.

If this question comes up again next class, I'll try again to defend the good side. I've found an ace in my sleeve here.

    -------

Went to "Levitate", the High School Fair earlier. Way better than the last two. Many booths, plenty people (surprisingly women composed of more than half the population there) and better shows. I bought a pack of fake Yu-Gi-Oh cards because my friend wanted me to teach/battle him. Since fake Yu-Gi-Oh cards are pretty similar to the original ones, and they cost cheap, why not? This would add to my skills of not actually playing once or owning cards, but knowing how to play the game. Just like I did with Magic. Never bought a single card, but if called upon, I know how to play.

I wanted to buy a NBA jersey there. One booth was selling them at P1500, but another one was selling them at P750! And they look pretty real. Sayang, there was no Bruce Bowen (Migs says I play like him) or Yao Ming (only the P1500 store has one). The P750 did have T-Mac, Julius Erving and Larry Bird.

    -------

Wrestleboy's wrestling CD store in Sta. Lucia finally has Wrestlemania VI in stock! That's when the Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan faced each other. Memories? Oh yeah, and they had Mr. DVD there too.

    -------

NBA Live 2004 is too easy, even at the highest difficulty. Using the current line up of Houston, I blew away the Nets, Magic (with Hill, Mourning [he is still officially in their lineup]), and more teams with a margin of 50-80 points every game, averaged 24+ steals per game, 10-15 blocks per game. 2K4 always gives me more of a challenge.

    -------

Pray for me. Saturday's tomorrow. It would be pretty difficult to face a "mataray" teacher, but it has to be done. Justice needs to be served. No one likes a D given to him for no apparent reason. And that's just one account of his shortcomings.

    Blurlululugh! and other stuff

    Kaboobie Billiards
7-3, win in a Kaboobie trap way. Blurlululugh! Most of the racks were won by "giving" it to the opponent instead of actually making the nine out of perfect positioning. One misses the nine-ball, and it lands near the pocket, or in Mig's case, the cue ball following the nine-ball in the pocket. Although I did win, I felt it wasn't a good win.

    Art Exhibit
I'm inviting you to A-Ward, an art exhibit showing the final projects" in my Basic Illustration as Visual Narrative Class. It will be on Feb. 16-22, I think, at the Rizal Library (tentative place, but date is final.) Come on February 17, 10:30-12:00 as I need at least two friends to be there when my teacher does the "grading". Yes, my work will be there (hopefully, I get to do the poster for the exhibit too).

    Legally Blonde
This Saturday will be a long day for me and my other classmates in Basic Graphic Design class. We will talk to the teacher and complain about his shortcomings in the light of the Magna Carta, the Evaluation for Teachers as well as the personal experiences. The teacher, being always late (even to the point of an hour and thirty minutes late), is just a minor point in our list of complaints. And if nothing happens, or he takes revenges on us by giving another class D (like he did last time without reason), we will take this case higher.

    I Object!
Karla said something was written all over my face when something happened. And I object. :)

    The lost e-mail
Migs was telling me that he e-mailed pictures in my account. But so far, I haven't received any.

    The Return of the King

Inside a cave off the coast of Maine, Chuck and Nancy find a mysterious chest containing the halves of a strange ring. When joined the ring forms the word Shazzan and with this magical command they are transported back to the fabled land of the Arabian Knights. Here they meet their genie, Shazzan. Shazzan presents them Kaboobie a magical flying camel and gives Chuck a magic belt and rope. Shazzan will serve them whenever they call, but he cannot return them home until they deliver the ring to it's rightful owner. And thus begins their incredible journey. - Shazzan FAQ

"Ho ho ho ho young master. What seems to trouble you? Ah, that boy who has a inanimate girlfriend named Kyla and has beaten you in your last match that broke your six-month winning streak in billiards? I, Shazzan, the sixty-foot tall genie, shall aid you in your quest."

Using the power of the cosmos, Shazzan presented Milo with a pair of magical billiard gloves. Milo wore them on each of his hands. Instantly, the cosmic powers of the gloves did their part, as Milo quickly led the game 4-0 in a race to 5 racks.

Suddenly, just as they were about to start the fifth rack, the rogues whom Shazzan had defeated before came back and faced the mighty genie once more. Kahn of the North Wind, the Lord of the Shadows, the Sorceress of the Mist, Abdar the Zodiac Master, the Priest of Turaba and the others kept the indestructible Shazzan busy. However, this caused the magic in the gloves to falter; their evil deeds managed to dole out two straight losses to Milo. This made the score stand at 4-2.

However, like all previous encounters with Shazzan, those enemies found out the hard way that all their magical powers couldn't match those of the mighty genie. All the rogues were disposed of as though they were never there.

When Shazzan returned, Milo already took a shot at the nine ball. The nine-ball was on the move. Unfortunately for Milo, it rattled out of the top-left corner pocket.

"Here young master, let me aid you and make this the final rack."

As it rattled out of the top-left corner pocket, the nine-ball made a beeline towards the top-right corner pocket. It went in, sealing the game for good just as Shazzan promised.

And the resounding "Yeahhhh!!!!" was heard once more.

    If these walls could talk

Hello. I'm the placement office and the job and practicum fair. There's this one student who never showed up before, but now, he's been going in and out, back and forth, over and under doing all sorts of things here for the past week. It seems that whenever I wake up, he's there, or sometime's, he moves like the Flash that I couldn't see him. Sure, I could understand if he's scheduled to go here, but no. He just keeps being in or along my existence. The maximum hours for volunteering was six hours right? But he's like there for more than that, 20 I suppose? What's up with that? Does he have a strange obsession for inanimate places like me?

Hi, I'm Karnabal. I replaced that boring old picture of Meteor Rain on the left and replaced it with the best wrestler in the WWE. And if you have your speakers on, with my theme music. I'm not sure if that person in the glasses, ponytail and looked like Ken Zhu liked me. He kept on talking to his seatmate and making strange comments when I showed YB. He did watch eagerly when I presented my other two plays. I wonder why? He seemed surprised when the angsty, bad girl came up on stage. He was saying "Oh my heck!" and almost fell off his seat. And probably, he'll never watch a VCD in the near future due to me.

    Job and Practicum Fair

So I've been working in the Job Fair for the past few days, looking like according to people: Sir Vince Serrano, Sir Mark Escaler, an encyclopedia salesman, or like one person said, human. :)

And it has been GREAT! I love handling stuff, doing things to help the companies & the placement office, meeting new friends and of course, the free food. Sure, it was tiring, and you were under the hot sun but when all the people surrounding you act like they were your brothers and sisters (in ABS-CBN's terms --- Kapamilya) then all those hours seemed like seconds. I'm just having fun!

I even spent more than 12 hours already in three days! One of my "bosses" even commented that she already got sick of seeing me there because she always sees me around. And I really was there most of the time. When you really love the job (and I don't even see it as a job -- more like hanging out with your barkada), you don't want to part with it.

It's similar to what I told someone in the entrance the reason why I looked so happy all the time --- "Pag pumasok sila sa Job Fair tapos hindi ka nakangiti, baka mawalan ng gana ang mga estudyanteng pumunta dito at mag-apply sa mga kompanya. At hindi natin iyon gusto di ba? At lalo na kung bad day sila, make at least this moment good for them."

Of course, those extra hours are not recorded. And I don't care if they are not recorded. That's not my goal.

I went to the 4:30 pm P&G seminar to fix the venue up, talk to the P&G people, do the techie stuff --- yes, I volunteered to help out.

Funny moment: I was asked by my senior compatriots what committee I signed up for. I said that I signed up for IT in my application form. She told me to go to Logistics because it suits my performance so far. Then I replied, "Don't worry, flexible naman si Milo." Those who heard me laughed, in a good way, a bit. One of them said that "speaking in the third-person ka pa." Fun moment, just wanted to share.

Aside from the technical difficulties in the beginning, everything turned out great to the point that the students were a bit dismayed when we had to end the seminar quickly because there was a class that was going to use the place.

And yes, I'm going to go all out tomorrow. Tomorrow's going to be my last "official" working day for the Job Fair as I didn't sign up for any shift on Friday. But who knows, if they need people, I might just show up.

Hope I pass this second stage of becoming a placement rep!
